Fuming

Fuming creates a special graying effect on oak hardwood flooring. This special treatment creates a reaction with the tannic acids that are present in the wood. Traditional fuming was done by placing wood into a tent like structure and releasing ammonia vapors into the space. We have discovered a non-toxic way of fuming hardwood floors onsite. So we are able to do this to both new and existing wood floors. After fuming we are able to add other colors to the floors to make for many unique looks.

Smoking

Rhodes Hardwood has a non toxic way of achieving a smoked look on hardwood floors. This look is achieved by a special liquid pretreatment that is sprayed onto the wood floor. This special treatment causes a reaction with the woods tanic acids. When woods are treated with our smoking process it creates a very unique aged look. As with our fuming, we can add colors to the woods after smoking them to create an endless possibility of colors and looks.

Precolor Treatments

Through our many non toxic pre coloring treatments we are able to create very deep rich colors on wood floors. These pre treatments also allow us to also then post treat with a different color to create very unique contrasting and textured effects.
