What are the terms for work/payments?

50% down & 50% upon completion. Costs of flooring are due in full prior to delivery. If final coating is delayed, job will be billed 90%.

Do I need to remove my baseboards for refinishing?

It is not completely necessary. If you leave them in place they may need minor paint touch up when we are finished. We can remove and reinstall baseboards upon request for a small fee. For older baseboards that have been painted over several times it is usually best to leave them in place.

What is the difference between oil & water based finishes?

Both finishes offer great durability. The main differences are cost, appearance, odor, & drying time. Below is a list of pros & cons for each finish. We can help you determine what finish is best for your families lifestyle & budget.

What type of finish do you use?

We use both oil based polyurethane & Water based finishes. Finishes are available in matte, satin, semi-gloss, & gloss sheens.

What is the difference between Refinishing & Recoating?

Refinishing is the process of completely sanding down the floor to remove dents, scratches and inconsistencies in the finish. This is followed by applying 3 coatings of the finish of your choice. Recoating on the other hand is a sprucing up or preventative maintenance procedure. Recoating involves buffing the floor with a light grit screen. The screening abrades the existing finish to allow the coating to bond. It also removes many of the surface scratches. The buffing is followed by applying a single coating.

Do you offer a warranty or guarantee?

Yes we do. We guarantee all of our work for 1 year.

What about pet stains?

Minor pet stains can be sanded out so they are barely visible. For larger, deeper stains we can stain the floor to hide them, or we can remove and patch in boards.

What can be done about squeaks?

We can not guarantee that we can get rid of any squeak. We do however have several different techniques to try to get rid of them. They include shimming or screwing the floor from underneath. If the floor cannot be accessed from underneath, we have a technique of screwing in long screws and breaking off the screw head to make them less visible.

What types of stains do you use?

We use dura-seal, & Bona stain sealers.

How long will the job take?

Most refinish jobs can be completed in 2-4 days. For installations it will take about 1 day for every 250-350 square feet. This will vary upon layout & complexity)

Can engineered floors be refinished?

It depends upon how thick the wear layer is. Many engineered floors can be refinished 1 or 2 times. We would be more than happy to come have a look.

Can hardwood floors be installed on concrete?

Solid hardwood floors cannot be installed over concrete. However, engineered wood flooring & laminate can be. We can help determine what's best for you.

Do you have references & Insurance?

Yes we have a large list of references that we would be more than happy to provide you with. We can send proof of insurance via email upon request.

How much do you charge?

We charge $2-$3 per square foot for refinishing, $1 per square foot for buff & recoat, and $2-$3 per square foot for installation. Prices will vary upon condition of existing floor, size of job, intricacy, type of finish being used, prep involved etc.

Can my floors get away with just a buff and recoat?

Not all floors can be recoated. Since no actual sanding is done, floors with deep scratches & scarring cannot be recoated. In addition, floors that have been cleaned with oil soaps or wax cleaners and floors with aluminum oxide finishes also can not successfully be recoated. For prefinished floors, see the manufactures recommendations for recoating.

Do you have any "Green" flooring options available?

We do have green options available. Including, Cork & Bamboo flooring, both are very sustainable. We also have eco friendly low voc finishes available.
