FLOOR RESTORATION – DNR BUILDING
This summer we spent a few weeks restoring the floors at the Historical Department of Natural Resources Log building on the Minnesota state Fairgrounds. For those not familiar with the fairgrounds they are located right between Minneapolis and St.Paul in Falcon Heights, Minnesota. The project involved sanding the flooring, and refinishing with multiple coatings of our high durability floor finish. These floors were is very poor condition, but not beyond the point of being able to be restored. This was an important project to us because thousands of Minnesotans have been to this building and because of the buildings history.
A little about the building;
The historic DNR building was built in 1934 for a cost of just $73,000. The log building first opened on September 1, 1934. Throughout the years many high ranking officials have visited the building including Governor Elmer Benson, Gov Wendell Anderson, Gov Al Quie, Gov Rudy Perpich, Gov Arne Carlson, Gov Ventura, & Governor Pawlenty, Elmer Benson once hosted a dinner at the building for the crown prince of Sweden Gustav.
