What to fill gaps with between hardwood floor & wall?
Joey asked 1 year ago
Between the baseboards & the hardwood flooring in my home, there are gaps. Some of the gaps are pretty large, you could probably stick you’re finger inside of them. I was thinking about using caulk, but I wanted to check around & see what others thought. Also, the gaps are throughout the entire house, from the bathrooms & kitchen, into the bedrooms & living room. So, would caulk be a good thing to use or is there another product that you know of that would work better?? Please help, as I am currently being over taken by millipedes so I am wanting to close these holes ASAP!
My house is on a concrete slab & it has been hot, wet, & humid here in NC lately.

These gaps are for expansion. If you fill them so the floor cannot move, it will buckle and you will have to remove the flooring and place it down again.Baseboard is usually enough to cover the gaps. If not you can nail a strip of quarter round or quarter cove at the base of the baseboard to cover wider gaps
Find where the millipedes are coming from and treat that area or hire an exterminator. Filling in the gaps will not get rid of the millipedes. Millipedes are often the sign of moist/damp wood. This must be found and corrected or the millipedes and other moist wood loving insects will show up.
